Biography
Gianina Gaitana is a Registered Nurse (RN) with a clinical background in paediatric nursing, specifically paediatric medicine, respiratory medicine and infectious diseases.
She a full-time professor in the Honours Bachelor of Science – Nursing (BScN) program at Georgian. She’s interested in issues surrounding patient- and family-centred care, and teaching about topics related to child and adolescent health.
Professor Gaitana’s research interests are focused on leadership in nursing education, in particular the educational pathways of foreign-trained nurses.
Her passion for teaching in nursing includes a focus on promoting inclusion and diversity in the learning process, and creating better awareness for culture and learning styles and their impact on the baccalaureate nursing student experience.
My favourite thing about teaching nursing is being able to inspire our future nurses to greatness! Being able to create excitement and support, and inspire students who want to enter the profession is a feeling hard to describe. The best part is being able to walk alongside them throughout their journey, and to learn along with them. It is a true benefit to lifelong learning.
